Internal
The Internal helpdesk is used by companies to allow workers to raise and track problems. While the Support engineers can track and fix problems. Due to the numbering scheme the oldest problems will always be at the top but higher priority issues will also stand out.
External
If you wish to have an external helpdesk where your customers can log issues etc with you then it may not be a good idea if each customer can see others issues. Again your support engineers can track and fix problems in order while they will see the bigger picture of all the customer issues at one go.
Installation
The download for Internal and external is exactly the same the difference is in the configuration. The zip file will need to be unzipped into the destination directory /var/www/html/helpdesk/ if the web site is to be called helpdesk for example. The hdesk.conf file needs to be edited for file name passwords and INTERAL/EXTERNAL as well as email address as a minimum. After editing is complete run the create .php file in a web browser to create the database and default entries. Default entries are in several CSV files which can be edited before the create program is run.
